200-250GB/platter Section (all drives under here use platters that can hold 200-250GB of data apiece.)
58GSX (5400RPM, 8MB cache, SATA-300 interface)
MK4058GSX 400GB (2/4)
55GSX (5400RPM, 8MB cache, SATA-300 interface)
MK1255GSX 120GB (1/1)
MK1655GSX 160GB (1/2 [short-stroked])
MK2555GSX 250GB (1/2)
MK3255GSX 320GB (2/3 [short-stroked])
MK4055GSX 400GB (2/4)
MK5055GSX 500GB (2/4)
55GSXN (5400RPM, 8MB cache, SATA-300 interface)
MK1255GSXN 120GB (1/1)
MK1655GSXN 160GB (1/2 [short-stroked])
MK2555GSXN 250GB (1/2)
MK5055GSXN 500GB (2/4)
Note: A new revision of the 55GSX series?
63GSX (5400RPM, 8MB cache, SATA-300 interface)
MK3263GSX 320GB (2/3 [short-stroked])
Note: this MK3263GSX drive is an oddity: it was, at first, considered the first single-platter 320GB notebook drive, however a datasheet has appeared that specs the drive as having two platters and three heads. It seems to be a 250GB/platter 55GSX series drive with some "enhancements," including Super-Quiet Seek Technology and even lower power usage (which is good as the 55GSX series (at least the 500GB model) takes the title for using the least power of all the 250GB/platter drives, according to an Xbit Labs roundup review).
63GSXN (5400RPM, 8MB cache, SATA-300 interface)
MK3263GSXN 320GB (2/3 [short-stroked])
Note: A new revision of the MK3263GSX?
56GSY (7200RPM, 16MB cache, SATA-300 interface)
MK1656GSY 160GB (1/2 [short-stroked])
MK2556GSY 250GB (1/2)
MK3256GSY 320GB (2/3 [short-stroked])
MK5056GSY 500GB (2/4)
59GSX (5400RPM, 8MB cache, SATA-300 interface)
MK1259GSX 120GB (1/1)
MK2559GSX 250GB (1/2)
MK5059GSX 500GB (2/4)
Note: not much is known about this 59GSX series, other than the fact that an MK6459GSX was discovered inside one of Toshiba's new 640GB enclosures by someone on the NotebookReview Forums, with the rest being listed on Toshiba's European "Register Online" site. These could perhaps be 65GSX variants with special firmware designed for use in an external case. Who knows.
65GSX (5400RPM, 8MB cache, SATA-300 interface)
MK1265GSX 120GB (1/1)
MK2565GSX 250GB (1/2)
MK5065GSX 500GB (2/4)
76GSX (5400RPM, 8MB cache, SATA-300 interface)
MK1276GSX 120GB (1/1)
MK2576GSX 250GB (1/2)
MK5076GSX 500GB (2/4)
Note: On Toshiba's product page for this series, the company claims that these drives "build upon the maturity of the Toshiba 320GB per-platter architecture to offer the same big storage capacities with enhanced quality and reliability." It seems that these are just updated versions of the 65GSX family, with the same specs but a more refined design. I have to applaud Toshiba for making this fact so clear.
76GSXZ (5400RPM, 8MB cache, SATA-300 interface, for 24/7 constant use)
MK2576GSXZ 250GB (1/2)
MK5076GSXZ 500GB (2/4)
59GSXP (5400RPM, 8MB cache, SATA-300 interface, Advanced Format)
MK1259GSXP 120GB (1/1)
MK2559GSXP 250GB (1/2)
MK5059GSXP 500GB (2/4)
75GSX (5400RPM, 8MB cache, SATA-300 interface, Advanced Format )
MK2575GSX 250GB (1/2)
MK5075GSX 500GB (2/4)
Note: No clue just how different these are from the 59GSXP series. Maybe they're just improved versions, just like the 76GSXs are to the 65GSXs, or they are OEM-only versions. In any case, I've began to see the MK7575GSX first in a few recent (as of mid-November 2011) notebooks.
61GSY (7200RPM, 16MB cache, SATA-300 interface)
MK2561GSY 250GB (1/2)

61GSYN (7200RPM, 16MB cache, SATA-300 interface)
MK2561GSYN 250GB (1/2)
MK5061GSYN 500GB (2/4)
Note: The specs between 61GSY and 61GSYN on Toshiba's PDF datasheets are identical. Aesthetically, at least with the two-platter models, the lids look a little bit different.
61GSYB (7200RPM, 16MB cache, SATA-300 interface, for 24/7 constant use)
MK8061GSYB 80GB (1/1 [short-stroked])
